We’re looking to work with talented & experienced English to German MTPE translators and proofreaders who want to earn a competitive, reliable income in a fun online working environment using their skills to work on fiction titles in the Romance, Romantasy & Thriller genres. Job Outline
We want to work with people who are creative, passionate, and conscientious on an ongoing basis. As a virtual office communication is key, so we like to work with individuals who can meet deadlines and communicate clearly and efficiently to keep project coordinators up to date with your progress.
Our ideal candidate for the translator role will receive an ET-GT AI translated manuscript (ranging from 30k-100k words) and a blurb for the title. This is reviewed to ensure that the translated manuscript and blurb reads fluidly and naturally to a native speaker with corrections and adjustments made throughout. Each edited translated manuscript and blurb is then reviewed by a proofreader to ensure the quality of work that Relay expects.
Our ideal candidate for the proofreader role will review the German manuscript and blurb to ensure the quality of work that Relay expects. We work with experienced translators, so we are not expecting a heavy edit with lots of changes. However, again ensuring that the final delivered manuscript will need to read fluidly and naturally to a native speaker with a keen attention to the nuance that brings our stories to life.

Necessary Skills & Experience
- Proven experience of translating/ proofreading fiction stories from English to Standard German
- Ideally experience translating/ proofreading in the above mentioned fiction genres
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of the German translation team to produce a final manuscript free from grammatical and spelling errors
- Ability to proofread/ review 2000-4000 words per day
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Time management and prioritization
- Technologically savvy in order to work with our project management software and Word!
About You
Proven experience is required – you’ll have worked as an English to German translator or proofreader on fiction stories between 30k-100k in length. You’ll have a good understanding of how to translate into a fluid and readable story for a German audience. You’ll be reliable and able to deliver quality work to a set deadline and you’ll be able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
