We’re looking to work with talented & experienced English to Italian Translators who want to earn a competitive, reliable income in a fun online working environment using their skills to work on fiction titles in the Romance & Fantasy genres.
Job Outline
The Translator receives an English manuscript (ranging from 30k-80k words) and a blurb for each title. Each translated manuscript and blurb is then reviewed by a Italian Proofreader to ensure the quality of work that Relay expects. The final delivered manuscript will need to read fluidly and naturally to a native speaker – we are not looking for a literal translation, rather an understanding of and attention to the nuance that brings our stories to life. Please do not apply if you rely on AI software for your translations. This position requires a translator who can translate 10,000 words / week.
Necessary Skills & Experience
- You are a native Italian speaker and fluent in English.
- Minimum 2 years professional Italian translation
- Proven experience of translating fiction stories from English into Italian
- Specific experience translating romance and / or fantasy fiction genres preferred (must be comfortable translating love scenes)
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Italian translation team to produce a final manuscript free from grammatical and spelling errors
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Time management and prioritization
- Technologically savvy in order to work with our project management software and Word!

You have a solid understanding of how to translate a manuscript and ensure that it is a fluid and readable story for an Italian audience. You are reliable and able to deliver quality work to a set deadline. You enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team, striving for continual improvement of your translation skills with feedback provided by professional Italian Proofreaders.
