How It WOrks

Our creative process is truly a collaboration and as a Relay editor your input will significantly shape the final story.

Once assigned to a project, you’ll either be giving feedback on an outline to develop the characters, plot and structure of a story, or digging into a manuscript to revise and enhance the story a writer has fleshed out.

You’ll work one-on-one with talented writers to support, critique and fine tune the story into something un-put-down-able!

Current Positions

If Relay and you decide it’s good fit, this can mean immediate work or the option of lining up work for the future so feel free to apply even if you currently have all the work you can take on!

“It’s great that Relay has up-to-date manuals and instructions for so many stages of their process. I love that level of investment. It’s very good to be able to feed back after a project. It’s great for a company / employer to value employee / freelancer input and treat all those involved as bringing somethign valuable to the project.”

“As a Relay Editor, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a team in seeing projects through from beginning to end—engaging in fleshing out concepts and characters, then full outlines, and even remaining with a project straight through until it’s ready for copy-editing. This has been incredibly satisfying, and I always enjoy the work since Relay pairs professionals with projects that are right in line with their talents and interests.”

“I want to tell you that you’ve got a good thing going (which I’m sure you already know). I came to Relay Publishing after editing for several difficult authors in a row, and I had almost forgotten how it felt to work together to make a stronger book. But Relay Publishing has reminded me why I have so enjoyed editing fiction.”
