How It WOrks

Our creative process is truly a collaboration and as a Relay editor your input will significantly shape the final story.

Once assigned to a project, you’ll either be giving feedback on an outline to develop the characters, plot and structure of a story, or digging into a manuscript to revise and enhance the story a writer has fleshed out.

You’ll work one-on-one with talented writers to support, critique and fine tune the story into something un-put-down-able!

I love that Relay recognizes authors’ and editors’ strengths and lets us use them. They respect our input on projects and work with us to make the books the best they can be. They’re more interested in what works for a story than in enforcing a rigid outline or vision. And it doesn’t hurt that Relay pays fairly and reliably, either Elisabeth

As a Relay Editor, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a team in seeing projects through from beginning to end—engaging in fleshing out concepts and characters, then full outlines, and even remaining with a project straight through until it’s ready for copy-editing. This has been incredibly satisfying, and I always enjoy the work since Relay pairs professionals with projects that are right in line with their talents and interests. Jennifer
